Launch odds vs. real odds on Pocket Change
The odds printed on Pocket Change were set the day it went to print and they never move. The real odds do, every single day, as prizes get claimed and tickets sell. When the $500 prizes get scooped up faster than the tickets sell, the real odds on that top prize get worse than what’s on the front. When tickets sell faster than the big prizes go, they get better. With 16 of 143 top prizes still out there, whether Pocket Change is worth your money comes down to the odds today — and for this game that number is right above, free.
Pocket Change questions
- Does Pocket Change still have its top prize?
- Yes. 16 of 143 $500 top prizes are still unclaimed on Pocket Change (New Jersey game #1937), going by the latest numbers the New Jersey Lottery reports.
- What are the real odds on Pocket Change right now?
- The $500 top prize launched at 1 in 60,020, and that is the number printed on the ticket. Those odds were locked in the day the game printed and they never move. The odds that actually matter get recalculated from the prizes and tickets still left today, and that live number is the one members see.
- How much is a Pocket Change ticket?
- Pocket Change costs $1 in New Jersey.
- Why doesn't the New Jersey Lottery just tell me this?
- Because the odds printed on the ticket make every game look identical from the day it launches to the day it ends. The lottery has no reason to point out that a game's best prizes are already claimed. We read the remaining-prize data New Jersey publishes every day and do the math they leave out.
