Launch odds vs. real odds on MEGA BUCKS
The odds printed on MEGA BUCKS were set the day it went to print and they never move. The real odds do, every single day, as prizes get claimed and tickets sell. When the $50000 prizes get scooped up faster than the tickets sell, the real odds on that top prize get worse than what’s on the front. When tickets sell faster than the big prizes go, they get better. With 3 of 6 top prizes still out there, whether MEGA BUCKS is worth your money comes down to the odds today — and for this game that number is right above, free.
MEGA BUCKS questions

The odds that actually matter get recalculated from the prizes and tickets still left today, and that live number is the one members see.
- How much is a MEGA BUCKS ticket?
- MEGA BUCKS costs $5 in Iowa.
- Why doesn't the Iowa Lottery just tell me this?
- Because the odds printed on the ticket make every game look identical from the day it launches to the day it ends. The lottery has no reason to point out that a game's best prizes are already claimed. We read the remaining-prize data Iowa publishes every day and do the math they leave out.
