Launch odds vs. real odds on 25X Xtra
The odds printed on 25X Xtra were set the day it went to print and they never move. The real odds do, every single day, as prizes get claimed and tickets sell. When the 500000 prizes get scooped up faster than the tickets sell, the real odds on that top prize get worse than what’s on the front. When tickets sell faster than the big prizes go, they get better. With 1 of 4 top prizes still out there, whether 25X Xtra is worth your money comes down to the odds today — and for this game that number is right above, free.
25X Xtra questions
- Does 25X Xtra still have its top prize?
- Yes. 1 of 4 500000 top prizes are still unclaimed on 25X Xtra (Illinois game #7636), going by the latest numbers the Illinois Lottery reports.
- What are the real odds on 25X Xtra right now?
- The 500000 top prize launched at 1 in 2,189,910, and that is the number printed on the ticket. Those odds were locked in the day the game printed and they never move. The odds that actually matter get recalculated from the prizes and tickets still left today, and that live number is the one members see.
- How much is a 25X Xtra ticket?
- 25X Xtra costs $5 in Illinois.
- Why doesn't the Illinois Lottery just tell me this?
- Because the odds printed on the ticket make every game look identical from the day it launches to the day it ends. The lottery has no reason to point out that a game's best prizes are already claimed. We read the remaining-prize data Illinois publishes every day and do the math they leave out.
